DR's: 16" wheel or 17"?
I'll be getting some new DR's soon (Nitto 245/50/16's=fail) and I need some help deciding on what tire size to go with. I have a bunch of wheels, and I can go with either a 16x8 wheel or a 17x9.5. The two tires I'm looking at are both MT ET Street Radials and I want to know which will hook better between a 295/50/16 and a 295/45/17.
As it sits right now the car is basically full bolt ons minus intake and a LOT of suspension work, going through a 12-bolt with 4.11's. I'm not running out of gear right now, but the car will be getting a heads/cam setup relatively soon, before the tires would be dead. The Nitto DR's just blow off at the track and I have trouble cutting anything better than a 1.95 without blowing the tires off...
They are about the same price and I was wondering who had experience with the two tires. I'm leaning a little towards the 16", but not sure about it being too tall (27.7" according to MT, the 17" is 27.2")
The one other thought is the ET Street non-radial in something like a 26x11.50 and they make it for either a 16 or 17" wheel.
Any help is much appreciated
