traction
i bought an 02 z28 in february or so. it has good year eagle f1's on it. 275/40r17 summer tires. when i bought it i thought these tires were junk because w/ traction control off it spun tires real bad. i revved it up to 2k rpms and let the clutch out and it ran up to 6k rpms and rolled at 4 mph until i let off the gas. ease off the line and then floor it and the wheels broke loose and they spun again through 2nd.
today tho.... i took the car out and ran it hard. i hardly lost traction. not nearly as bad as previously.
so my question is this: is the reduced wheel spin due to the 80 degree weather or do i have an issue causing power loss?

dunno where ur at, but if it was 30 degrees in feb when u did it, of course its gonna spin with cold tires and cold blacktop... now its 80 out, the tires r much warmer and so is the blacktop, over 100 at least...

i'm in virginia beach, va. it was around 35-40 in february. i just didnt think it would be a significant difference in traction. i am new to a car that wants to spin the tires so much, and these are my first hi-performance tires.
i figured the difference in tire temperature would be more along the lines of fancy spark plugs vs. the factory plugs.
i am also looking to buy new tires in the near future because these ones are about worn out. i priced new eagle f1's at like $250 a piece. i would like a good gripping tire that corners well w/ good straight line traction. long wear life isn't important as i plan on driving the car about 5k miles a year. i would like to spend less than $250 a piece tho!

I live in upstate NY and when its 30-40 degree's out, I can blow the tires off from a 50 roll
now, yesterday it was 80* out and from a 40 roll my car was dead hooking on a 100 shot (520rwhp)
same tires
what does that tell ya?
