Default Tire help

Hey guys, i have some Eagle Alloy 077 rims on my car and im a bit confused about the tires on it. the rims are suppost to be 8 inches wide, but the fronts have 265 35 18's on them. Should that even be able to fit?! any idea if i could go to a 265 40 18 on it with out it rubbing? the cars stock, thanks!

A 265 is about as wide of a tire that I'd put on an 8" wheel. You shouldn't have any issues with that. That size tire will be a little bit taller than stock though (25.7" vs. 26.3"). You will have no rubbing issues unless the offset of the wheels is incorrect.

An ideal tire size for that wheel would be 245/45/18. That is a good width, and the right height.

i ran 275/40/18 on the front of my car for a few years. there was slight rubbing on the inner fender well at full lock. but it never hurt the tires

The second number is an aspect ratio. It is a height with respect to the treadwidth expressed as a percentage. Not an idepandent number.

No problem. SSCamaro is right. A 245/40/18 will have no rubbing issues if the offset is correct.
