Default Winter tires, would this work?

Well I currently have facotry Snowflake style rims but chromed on my car. I am about to buy another set of 4 chromed snowflake style and probally sell 2. My question is, I will be using this other set for snow tires and would these work good? Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 225/55 R16 95R BSW . I plan on only doing the 2 in the rear so let me know how effective this would be for new jersey winters.

The Blizzaks are great tires, and the 225/55 will work well in the snow. However, how well the car works in the winter is also dependant on whether or not you can steer it. What do you plan to run on the front?

While the Blizzaks are great tires, they're also expensive. If you had 4 wheels you could use, you might be better off with 4 of the less expensive Winterforce tires....

I use general altimax arctic tires on all 4 corners here in NJ

they're about $100 a piece and work pretty well. I would recommend getting them in the front too, I've had a lot of people slide out right across the road in front of me and having grip in the front really counts when you're braking or making quick turns on slick surfaces.

Don't count out Craigslist. I just picked up a pair of studded Coopers for $40 that don't look to have ever been mounted and a set of silver snowflakes for $140 with tires. I'll grab two more snow tires before the bad stuff hits and be good to go for less than $250 total.

Use searchtempest.com to search all the craigslist listings within a specific radius. Makes it so much easier.

I see in your profile, you list Wilkes Barre as where you live. Although I've lived in the snowy, blustry western New York area most of my life, my father was born in Wilkes Barre. I'm just curious, how much snow do you get during an average winter in Wilkes Barre?
