stock tire size for 16s?

I'm pretty sure I'm running too small a tire in the rear, I picked up the car with the oem 16s and it has 225 in the rear, what size should I be running? Cuz I can't keep traction to save my life

Probably 245/50/16

Can I fit wider? Cuz 225 to 245 doesn't seem like it will make much diff

That is the stock tire size, yeah. If you want wider, it makes more sense to go up to a 17x9" wheel and 275-285 width. Finding wider tires in a 16" size is gonna be harder than going with a commonly used size.
