got my tires mounted last night. hoosier 26x7.5x17 on the dark stars and they look sweet!!!

That 185mm/~7" is section width, not tread width. It's just a shot in the dark, but my guess is those 7" wide 185/55R17 tires have a tread width of 5". Acceptable tread width is normally wheel width plus/minus 1".
