Michelin Presents Wallpaper Wednesday: 1969 Pontiac GTO The Judge
All rise for The Judge. Way back in 1969, the first Led Zeppelin album was released, President Richard Milhous Nixon became our 37th President, the X-rated Midnight Cowboy starring Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman was in theaters and Pontiac gave us this beautiful, orange GTO dubbed "The Judge."

I never quite understood the reasoning behind the Judge. Yes, many of them were Carousel Red, which created a lot of attention, however John DeLorean and Jim Wangers both said the Judge was supposed to compete with the Plymouth Road Runner, and snag some of the market share the RR was gobbling up.
The RR was a light weight (comparatively speaking) "stripped down, taxi-cab", with a high performance drivetrain. No show and all go, so to speak. Every Judge I ever saw had power steering, power brakes, AM/FM stereo, bucket seats, a console, and many even had A/C! The drivetrain was exactly the same as a regular GTO. I don't get it......
