Default 1999 Camaro SS Wheel Question

Stock front and rear. Car still has factory ZR1 wheels and im ready to move onto something new. I read the sticky thread and googled but got mixed answers on the subject.

I would like to go with some weld 5 spoke wheels possibly 17X4 or 17x4.5 in the front and 17x11 in the rear. So what backspacing should i need for front and rear and will the 17x11 be an issue. I know people run 17x11 but i just want to be sure.

Im open to weld wheels or possibly boss 5 spoke wheels that are similar to the very popular american racing wheels you see on most older muscle cars.

Thanks for the help in advance. If you have some yourself or ones you recommend close to that size please share im open to alot. Thanks

With Weld RT-S 17" wheels you'll want the +46mm offset(7.8"bs), for the 17 x 11 wheels.
FYI, for minimal to no inner wheel well clearance issues I'd consider going with a 17 x 10.5, +44mm offset(7.5"bs), which can still be used with a 315/35/17(25.7") tire.

For the front IF you plan to drive it on the street a lot I'd run at least a 17 x 6, with a 205/50/17(25.1"), or a 215/50/17(25.5")

As far as the wheel offset for narrow front wheels a 17 x 6, +10mm offset(3.9"bs) should be pretty good . It'll put the 215/50/17 tire out in about the same position as a 17 x 9.5 +40mm offset wheels with 275/40/17 tires.

this.....but remember, with a 17x11 wheel, you'll likely have to hammer the inner fender wells and maybe cut out the bump stops.....i had 17x11 ZR1's w/50mm backspace and they fit great after a little work.....a few people have run the 17x11 +38mm offset ZR1's, but they had to roll the fender lip.....i'd go with the 17x10.5's mentioned above.....the RT's wheels are badass, i plan to run a set of 15x10-15x3.5 for my drag setup

Thank you for the response, i will def run a 17x6 for the front. Im hoping i get to be one of those lucky ones that i can install with no other issues of rubbing and rolling. I also own a 99 Camaro SS NBM, i noticed your sig lol. I love the look of a fat rear tire but especially a tall one too but i can live without the height.

As for the bump stops can they just be removed for good? I removed the rear seats in my car cuz i dont like having more than two people in my car at any given time and also so the rear seats dont get ruined sitting in this florida sun being baked everyday was also plus. The RT's are awesome, thats probably what i will end up with.

You shouldn't need to do anything except maybe do some minor trimming off the side if the bump stops if you go with the 17 x 11 +46mm offset wheels. IMO, keep the bumpstops if you can, it'll keep the rear-end off the fuel tank if you ever bottom out.
