Default Narrowed Rear and 8'' Wheels

Let's say a set of 15x8'' wheels with 5.5'' backspacing on a fbody, 5.5'' are coming "in" towards the inner wheelwell. Now, a 10'' wheel with 7.5'' backspacing, 7.5'' are coming "in". Running the 8'' wheel, wouldn't you have 2'' or so to narrow each side before worrying about clearance issues?

The OE 8" rims on a 4th gen F-body have roughly 6" of backspacing, which puts the tire in the middle of the wheel well. If you narrowed the rear 2" on each side, I think you'd be in trouble.....

Backspacing is backspacing, no matter what the wheels are..........

I asked about 5.5'' of backspacing, not 6''. 5.5'' is not 6''. If you want to be a Richard, do it somewhere else...I don't surround my life with Richards.

Narrowing a rear 2'' and running a 5.5'' backspacing should be the equivalent of a stock rear and 7.5'' backspacing.
