Default Wheels for under $1000

I was looking at oewheels but then I started to looked at the black chrome race star wheels. I was thinking 17x8 or 9 in the front and 17x10 in the rear. I was just wonder what else there are for options. Welds are way out of my price range. Also with the 17x10 could I run 315/35/17 with out any rubbing? Thanks everyone.

For a 17" street/strip wheel I think the Racestars are about the cheapest and lightest wheel I could find when I was looking a while back. The BS Street lites are probably next, but the prices have started to creep up over the years. For the price of a 17" street lite these days for a few hundred more you could get some 17" Welds.

If you are not worried about wheel weight, you could look into some 17" Corvette ZR1's (or replicas of them), American Racing Torque Thrust M's, or American Racing Torque Thrust II's... but again these will not be as light as the Racestars or the more expensive Street Lites, but they do come in a 17x10.5 or 17x11 allowing you to run some 315's in the back.

I could be mistaken as i havent looked at prices lately, but I dont think any of these with the exception of some ZR1 replicas can be had for under a grand tho.

Well the car is a full bolt on m6 car. I plan on putting a s60 with 4.10's and most likely a cam. Maybe heads at some point in the future. I'm just tiring to build a nice street car. I was worried that the replicas would weight quite a bit more and slow me done if I go to the track.

The replicas will weigh more, but how often are you planning on being at the track if those are your first choice based on the price?

If i were you, I'd probably just get the Racestars if you really like those, buy a good drag radial and just be done with it if you are wanting a relatively light street/strip wheel in 17". Especially if you are just an every now and then track person. Last I checked you could get a 17x9 and 17x10.5 Racestar Dragstar for about $1100 or so. Even Cheaper if you decide to just do a more track setup with say a 17x4.5 up front and then 15x10 in the rear for maybe $800 or so.

I guess it depends on your plans with the car and your budget if you are not trying to have 2 sets of wheels (1 for street use, and 1 for track use) and if you are not wanting to spend more money on some of the higher end street/strip wheels in a 17".

Do you know if there are any sponsors of the site that sells race stars? To be honest I like them because they are something different and I think they would look killer in black chrome on my black ss.
