Default newb question about tire size...

Hey all,

If I buy larger diameter tires, will that make the car faster due to the larger circumfrence? Logic would say it would since one revolution of the axle makes the car travel further with bigger wheels. Also, does the speedometer and odometer have to be reprogrammed some how? Thanks.

yes this true, for example an 28 inch tall tire will give you a faster trap speed than say a 26 inch tall tire.

It might give you a higher theoretical top speed, but a tire size switch may not always benefit you. If you're going through traps at say 5500 rpm's on 26" tubber, w/ 28" tires, your rpm's will drop and your ET will go UP. If you were running out of gear with 26" tires, then yes, 28" tires would probably result in your et dropping and your mph going up. All about the combination of rpm's where motor is happy, gearing, and tire size.
