Default Need a good set of $400 tires

Hi guys.

I need some advice. I have only around $400 on tires to blow, and I need to know what is decent in this price range. Right now I have 245/50X16s Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s, and they were an awesome tire when they had tread on them, but it isn't in the budget to pick up another set of tires that expensive right now. Are there any good z-rated tires in that price range? I am not looking for all-season tires either.

Also, I have the stock z28 rims on my car. Can I go any wider with replacement tires on that rim, or do I need to keep it 245? I would also like to drop the sidewall aspect ratio alittle, as I don't like all that sidewall on the tire. Also, if I can go with a wider tire, how assume it won't be by much, so how much would that play with my speedometer. Enough to be concerned? Thanks for any advice in advance.

on the stock 16x8" rim.. you can go upto 255 in width.. [ 255/50/16 ] ... discount tire has the Falken Ziex ZE-512 for $74/tire with free shipping...

The Sumitomo HTR Z ... at tire rack ...$79 w/o shipping

The Kuhmo ECSTA Supra 712 ... for 93 w/o shipping... but I wouldn't recommend that tire to anyone.. it has the worst traction!!

The HTR Z isn't bad..

Oh you know what.. contact Damian .. he's a moderator on here and has great hook ups with tires!! .. def. PM him first !

You can go with a 245/45/16, but you will notice that the tire is much smaller heightwise and looks strange.
Like Rahul said, the 712's are cheap but not all that great, I had a set as well.

I also had the 711's and they were ok, similiar tread pattern to the BFG KDW, and wasn't too expensive, about $60/tire in your stock size.

I am selling my 97-99 C5 wheels, so If you wanted a differnt look for the car with nearly new tires, buy mine. 245/45/17 Kumho 712's in the front and 275/40/18 Nitto 555's in the rear. Asking $400+ shipping from 23503.

Do you have any idea what the wheels weigh? I need to know the possible shipping costs to 19341.

I'd guestimate less than 52lbs each since they feel lighter than my ZR1's. I'll weigh them tomorrow as they are sitting in my garage at the moment.
Here is what the shipping quote for my ZR1's was, (actual weight was 51.5lbs and total was $63)

I just picked up a set up Fuzion ZRi's for my WS-6 in 275-40/17 size and paid $ 120/tire plus mounting and all the bs, came to $ 610 with a wheel alignment.

Really like the tires and would guess in your size would be less $$. Sold through any Firestone/Brigestone dealer (I got them at Tire's Plus). Check out http://thefuzionzone.com/product_ZRi.asp.

Here's a shot of mine.
