Default tire size PLEASE HELP

getting a set of 18 x 8.5 wheels, tires recommended are 245/40's. tires will most likely be kdw2's. would moving up to a 18x10 effect traction at all? i've read other threads and they mostly said its not the diameter, its the tire. car has intake/exhaust and a few other bolt ons...nitrous soon. if i start running at the track i'll most likely pick up a pair of thompsons. if i dont have to, i dont want to spend the extra money on bigger tires. any opinions/input help, thanks.

for the most part yes it's tread compound not the size of the tire. there are probably a few people that have run in the 10's on a 255 mt drag radial..

Yes and no. The 10" will give you a little better contact patch and probably handle better around bends but at the track you can keep getting stickier compounds to make up for the decreased width.
