Default What happens to a rim when...

Thankfully this was not the SS or the wife's new mini. Its the DD Mazda 6.

This is what happens to your rim when the tractor trailer in front of you drops a break drum and it cannot be avoided.

The piece went through the tire and exploded the rim into the rotor. The aftermath is below.

the truck had to pull over too so we got his insurance info to replace the rim and tire and check over the suspension too.

i'd just put a bunch of tire plugs in it and call it a day LOL. But seriously how does a truck lose a break drum Was it in the back of the truck or still being used on the wheel?

That's just a scratch. Nothing a little JB Weld can't fix.

we were going between 60 and 65 when it happened. It was a bunch of pieces of the break drum that had just broken off the truck.

No body damage, just a huge bang of the rim shattering and then we heard the pieces rattle through the wheel well. We pulled over immediately thinking the tire was shredded.

there were two other cars that also hit the debris, and had flat tires.
