Default How to remove these?

Lost my locking lug key

Did a search and saw a lot of information for removing the kind of lock that has the ridges on the outside but I have the kind that is smooth on the outside. Like this - http://www.corvetteguys.com/chrome-l...-lug-nuts.html

Is there a tool that works on this kind?

Appreciate any info you have.

Thanks

The best way to get it off is to get a socket from the tool store specifically made for this purpose. You get one that fits tightly, and I usually hit it onto the nut as much as possible with a hammer. Then you use a breaker bar to break it loose. If you look at it, it looks like a flower pattern, and it 'bites' into the nut when you try to loosen it. It is good for those kind of locking nuts as well as other damaged lugnuts...it's a handy thing to keep around the shop.

That method works great just be aware that your lug nuts will be trashed. Other than getting the right key, there's really no way to get them off w/o damage though. Same thing happened to me once however all I used was an old socket that just barely fit on the lug.

Yeah, I knew they would be worse for the wear after pounding that tool on there.

The whole reason for taking the wheels off was to put on my powdercoated calipers and brackets, new rotors and pads and my new wheels and tires... which have all new lugs, including some new Gorilla locks

The old ones coming off are rusty and have outlived their usefulness... I will be removing them with "extreme prejudice"!! lol

Maybe could weld another nut to the end of the locking lug, if all else fails?

Most garages or dealers have the keys to remove any locking lug nut, try them first.
