2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition: A Nostalgic, Emotional Farewell
Chevrolet pays tribute to the Camaro’s legacy with a final, 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition, embodying the spirit of the legendary ‘Panther.’
Since its introduction in 2016, the sixth-generation Camaro has been synonymous with power, performance, and style. As the Gen Six Camaro prepares to retire at the end of the 2024 model year, Chevrolet is paying homage to this iconic sports car by offering a special Collector’s Edition.
This final edition celebrates the Camaro’s agility and style while also reconnecting with its roots. Let’s delve into the details and discover what makes the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition truly special.
Resurfacing Ties to the Original Code Name
The 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition draws inspiration from the Camaro’s early development stages. The original code name for the program that birthed the Camaro in the 1960s was “Panther.” Chevrolet Performance Design Studio looked to honor this historic connection by incorporating elements reminiscent of the original program.
Rich Scheer, design director of Chevrolet Performance, stated in a recent press statement, “We found it fitting for this Collector’s Edition Camaro to officially recognize the significance of the original code name and share it with Camaro enthusiasts.” The Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat for the SS and Panther Matte Black for the ZL1 pay homage to the Panther name.
Distinctive Features for Each Trim
The Collector’s Edition enhances the LT/RS, LT1, SS, and ZL1 trims with a range of exclusive features. The LT/RS, LT1, and SS trims boast a new Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat paint, complemented by Satin Black accent stripes.
These trims also receive 20-inch Satin Black or optional Polished Forged Wheels, as well as the front splitter from the 1LE package. Coupes in these trims are additionally equipped with the rear spoiler from the ZL1 package, completing the sporty look.
The ZL1 Collector’s Edition, limited to just 350 units, takes things up a notch. It showcases the first-ever matte paint offered on a Camaro from the factory, the Panther Black Matte exterior color.
The ZL1 also features the front splitter from the ZL1 1LE and the rear wing from the ZL1 1LE on coupes. A Black Metallic ZL1 stripe, red brake calipers, and black lug nuts further enhance its exterior appearance.
Inside, each of the 350 Collector’s Edition ZL1 vehicles receives a serialized steering wheel badge representing the build sequence.
Signature Badging & Interior Treatments
Across all Camaro Collector’s Edition builds, special attention is given to unique badging. Front fender script badging integrates a panther into the letter “R,” further emphasizing the connection to the original code name.
The steering wheel badge also features the panther emblem, symbolizing the car’s heritage. Inside the cabin, laser-etched aluminum Collector’s Edition logos grace the special floor mats, while black interior treatments add an exclusive touch to the overall design.
‘Welcome Kit’ & Shinola Collaboration
Purchasers of the Camaro Collector’s Edition are in for a treat. Each buyer will receive a welcome kit containing two posters that commemorate both the Camaro generations and the Collector’s Edition itself. Additionally, the owners of the ZL1 Collector’s Edition will be presented with a bespoke Canfield Sport 45mm watch from Shinola.
This exquisite timepiece commemorates the Collector’s Edition and carries an inscribed serial number that matches the number on the vehicle’s steering wheel badge. The watch’s design is carefully crafted to reflect the ebonized presence of the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition, featuring Camaro and panther motifs throughout.
2024 Camaro Updates & Availability
Beyond the Collector’s Edition, Chevrolet is introducing updates to the 2024 Camaro lineup. The coupe and convertible options will be available on the LT, LT1, SS, and ZL1 trims.
The 1LE package will remain an option for the SS and ZL1 trims. Powertrain options include the 3.6L V-6, 6.2L LT1 V-8, and the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V-8 engines. Two new exterior colors, Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow, will be available across all trims.
Chevrolet dealers will start accepting orders for the 2024 Camaro on June 15, with a starting MSRP of $32,495 for the LT coupe and $38,495 for the LT convertible.
As the curtains close on the sixth-generation Camaro, Chevrolet is giving enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of history with the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition.
By paying tribute to the original code name, incorporating unique features, and collaborating with Shinola for an exclusive timepiece, Chevrolet has created a truly remarkable send-off for the Gen Six Camaro. Whether it’s the Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat or the Panther Matte Black, this Collector’s Edition is a fitting tribute to a legendary sports car that has captivated enthusiasts for generations.
