A few months ago we showed you the first spy shots of the new Cadillac ATS-V.R racecar built by the guys from Pratt & Miller, the same outfit that built the C7.R racecar and the same race team that helped Chevy engineer the new C7 Z06 road car. Now with the subsequent leak of the new ATS-V road car, GM just announced that the racing version will debut alongside its road going sibling.

The new ATS-V.R is set to take the Pirelli World Challenge series by storm. Over the past few years, Cadillac and their CTS-V.Rs have been hugely dominant in the race and are expecting to continue that tradition with the new ATS-V.Rs.

The new car comes out of a necessity to continue being dominant in the series. This last season, the CTS-V.R has shown its age while its competitors have all stepped up their games quit considerably.

The car will be lighter and more powerful than the outgoing CTS-V.R. Using the new twin-turbocharged V6 engine, it will likely make around 500-600 hp and only weigh in at a scant 2400 lbs or so certifying it as a real performer.

Both cars will debut next week so stay tuned for more pictures and information coming soon.
