Two doors, eight cylinders, and three pedals – what more could you ask for?

The 1957 Chevrolet Nomad may be one of the most iconic station wagons ever produced. The Nomad shares its styling – and fins – with the famous 1957 Chevrolet sedan, combined with an attractive two-door station wagon body.

However, this particular wagon that we found on Hemmings is not a Nomad. Instead, it’s a lower trim-level 210 2-door wagon. With that said, it still shares much of its body with the more-famous Nomad.

If you’re looking for white wall tires and two-tone pastel paint jobs, you might want to look elsewhere. This blacked-out wagon rides on American Racing Torq-Thrusts. The wheels and the paint really suit the looks of the 210, which had less trim than the Nomad.

Under the hood, you’ll find an LS1 V8 backed up by a T56 six-speed manual transmission. After all, what’s more fun that shifting your own gears in a classic LS1-powered station wagon?

Far from its origins as a basic family hauler, this station wagon has plenty of other modern touches. In addition to the LS1 and six-speed, the seller added power disc brakes up front, as well as power steering and power windows.

Air conditioning and a modern stereo would really make this car the perfect summer cruiser. However, since it’s not a Nomad, it doesn’t demand a Nomad price. At $32,500 – a price which the seller describes as “negotiable” – there should be money left over for further improvements.

The paintwork appears to be very nice, and the interior looks similarly tidy. Newer black vinyl upholstery covers the seats.

When most people think of LS1-powered cars, their thoughts typically go to C5 Corvettes and fourth-gen F-bodies. While the LS1 has been swapped into just about anything on four wheels, this classic Chevy wagon may be one of our favorite swaps ever.

This 1957 210 wagon may be less bright and shiny than its famous Nomad stablemate, but the understated, blacked-out look works for us. We don’t see this as a show car, and we’d be much more likely to use it as a do-everything daily driver and parts hauler.
