This week’s Dyno Blast Wednesday video features a C6 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 stretching its legs on the rollers, but this is not your average C6 Z06. This Corvette was built by LateModelRacecraft (LMR) in Texas and it is fitted with a pair of Precision Turbo snails mounted at the back end of the car, tucked neatly under the rear bumper cover. Of course, this car doesn’t have the rear bumper cover, which gives us a great look at those remotely located turbochargers and a few other features of this American supercar.

In addition to the remote twin turbo setup, this C6 Corvette Z06 is equipped with a meth injection kit and a nitrous setup, along with a big fuel cell setup and what is likely a long list of internal engine modifications – none of which are explained in the video.

Some people will criticize this type of turbo setup, as the length of turbo tubing between the snails at the rear of the car and the throttle body under the hood can cause unwanted boost lag and some boost pressure loss, but that doesn’t seem to have much of an impact on this C6 Corvette Z06.

After showing us a ton of close-up shots of the aftermarket components on this Corvette (which are best viewed by pausing and playing the video each time the image changes), the action begins – with this boosted LS7 screaming as it works the dyno. Once the driver really puts the hammer down, the Corvette dances on the rollers, but he manages to get enough traction to register a whopping 1,244 rear wheel horsepower and 1,029lb-ft of rear wheel torque.

With numbers like those, I would guess that the owner of this Corvette Z06 isnt too worried about lag or boost loss and best of all – these numbers were recorded with a tune for straight 93 octane pump gas. The nitrous and meth injection werent in use here, so this Corvette has far more potential than the 1244/1029 recorded here.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
