There’s been a ton of talk about the new 2015 Camaro Z/28 and all of the intricate pieces that make it such an awesome package, but when I saw this video expanding on its aerodynamic package, I just had to share. Program Engineering Manager, Mark Stielow delves into the Z/28’s aero package and compares it to the 1LE to really highlight the level of design in the new Z/28.

You’re going to have to watch the video for all the details, but here are a few highlights: The aero package on the Z/28 was designed at the General Motors Aerodynamic Laboratory, at the Moving Ground Plane Windshear Facility, and of course, on plenty of tracks. As for specific details, well, the front splitter is steel-reinforced and can handle 200 pounds of downforce to help keep those 11-inch front tires planted. The Z/28 creates true downforce at speed that’s also due to the under trays, a stance that sits 33mm lower than the 1LE, a big front splitter, and an adjustable wing that adds a dealer-installed aluminum unit to the 1LE’s base wing. Of course, we already know about the “flowtie” on the grill, but airflow and cooling were paramount on the Z/28. That’s why the 1LE’s extractor hood was opened up for even more airflow. Seriously, what didn’t they think of?

All I know is, I can’t wait to see how the Z/28 performs against its peers!
