Insane LS-powered Volvo Is Far More than a Simple Swap

By -

Vintage Volvo body sits on a 2013 Corvette Grand Sport Chassis and struts its stuff on and off track wherever it goes.

There’s genuinely something heartwarming about a vintage car with a roaring LS swap. Especially when it’s a car that initially didn’t even crack the triple digits in horsepower, this, however, is a lot more than that. This Volvo 122 Amazon sits atop a 2013 Corvette chassis and bears the name “Lingenfelter” on the engine covers.

You’re bound to expect something insane when it’s posted right on the HolleyPerformance youtube channel. The video in question begins precisely how you’d like it to. The “Vo6” Amazon approaches the stage on a drag strip, allowing you to hear the nearly criminally enjoyable chop of it’s LS heart. After a short interview, you get to experience the full effect as it accelerates down the strip, running a respectable twelve-second quarter-mile.

We love the sheer insanity of this project. The fact that it’s not only an iconic and admirable Volvo making all the LS noises we can dream up isn’t what sells it. It’s not the Lingenfelter involvement, either. It’s the fact that you can look this cool and have all the creature comforts and handling capabilities of a C6 Grand Sport Corvette.

Still not sold? Try this on for size. Owner Jeff Allen and Ken Lingenfelter built this car in just ninety days. In three months they took it from an “LS3 Gokart” to the show-worthy spectacle you see now. Unfortunately, the video does not discuss what is done to the engine, but we know it couldn’t be stock.

Perhaps the best news is that it will be available at Barrett Jackson’s Scottsdale auction in 2020. That’s right; you could own this car if you’ve got the proper wallet thickness. Additionally, it’s proceeds will benefit the SEMA scholarship.

This remarkable project reminds us that eve far fetched ideas can become a reality. So go ahead, make that crazy project idea of yours come to life!
