The Chevrolet Camaro making an appearance on How It’s Made is kind of a perfect pair. HIM is a show for people who have the curiosity and the drive to understand the creation of the products they use every single day. In a way, it represents a part of the American spirit that helped build the nation. And a significant part of the country’s innovation and economy comes from the automobile.

One of America’s most iconic cars is the Chevrolet Camaro. In breaking news that none of you know about, Chevy recently released the sixth-generation of the pony/muscle/sports car, and How It’s Made: Dream Cars decided to get a behind-the-scenes look at the construction process.

The episode takes place at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. It takes viewers through the steps of assembling the body, checking for inconsistencies, paint, engine building, interior assembly, and much more. It’s absolutely worth the 21 minutes of time.

Some quick hit facts:

  • More than 300 feet of adhesive is used during assembly
  • The body sides are stamped from a single piece of steel
  • More than 500 spot welds hold the body together (rivets and adhesives are used for aluminum to steel parts)
  • There’s a conveyor system called “The Skillet”
  • The rear bowtie is hand applied
