Would You Spend 75k on a Z/28?

For years, fans of the Big Three have been asking for performance cars with the ability to go toe-to-toe with the best that Europe and Asia has to offer.

The Corvette Z06, SRT Viper and even the long defunct Ford GT have proved that not only can America make great cars, but we can make better cars than our European rivals.
For years enthusiasts have asked: “Give us a stripped down racer that’s built specifically for track days and hard driving.”

For those that don’t know me, here’s a quick bit of info. My name is Mike Musto. I’m an automotive journalist, former East Coast track instructor with NASA and the host of /BIG MUSCLE on YouTube’s /DRIVE Network. I also love American-made automobiles, and don’t hold an allegiance to any one brand. Hell, I own cars from each of the big three.  I say this because I want to focus on the Camaro Z/28 as a great car. Nothing more, nothing less.

As a journalist and track rat I get seat time in just about every type of performance car there is, and I’m here to say that the Z/28 is just what we needed. For years enthusiasts have been saying, “Give us a stripped down racer that’s built specifically for track days and hard driving.”

And guess what? The Z/28 is that car.

But as of late, people have been bitching about the 75k price tag— really? This thing is an absolute bargain for what it’s capable of. Understand that the Z/28 was designed to best cars like the Porsche GT3 RS and Nissan GT-R. Hell, BMW M3’s aren’t even competition.

With that being said, I want to pose one question to you as enthusiasts. Would you spend 75k on a Camaro? And if you wouldn’t, what would you buy with the 75k instead?
