New Stage II Yenko Camaro Makes 1,000 Horsepower

By -

Classic Industries and Specialty Vehicle Engineering unveil first of 25 of the most powerful turn-key Camaros ever made.

Yenko. The name alone brings to mind some of the most priceless — and potent — dealership-special cars of all time. Don Yenko’s dealership famously built hot-rodded Camaros (and Corvairs before that) in the 1960s to win races of many types. At SEMA 2017, Classic Industries unveiled the newest with the name: the 1,000-horsepower 2018 Yenko/SC Stage II 1000 HP Supercharged Camaro.

Yes, that reads 1,000 horsepower.

That power comes from a supercharged LT1 V8 that has been fully built. That means forged steel cranks and H-beam connecting rods with forged aluminum pistons. CNC-ported LT4 cylinder heads complete the engine build with upgraded fuel delivery and a tune for the four-digit output.
Classic Industries will build only 25 of these Stage-2 beasts on 1LE chassis. That means that should you scrounge up the dough, you’ll have a car with 1,000 ponies that can turn corners. We find it unlikely that anybody will take one of these to the Nurburgring, but we suspect that it would throw down a serious lap time if they did.

The Stage-2 Camaro joins a three-car stable of Yenko cars from Classic Industries, all with 25-car production runs in 2018. The Stage-1 Yenko Camaro also makes more horsepower than stock with an 825-horsepower version of the supercharged LT1 V8. Its sibling, the Yenko Corvette, also uses the same 825 HP powerplant for its go.

The Yenko Stage II also comes with 3-year/36,000-mile warranties on the engine and on the non-powertrain components.

While talking to Power Automedia, David Hamburger with Specialty Vehicle Engineering also suggested that a fourth Yenko car will be announced this month. It is not, as logic may suggest, a Stage-II Corvette. Hamburger said that it is a Chevy product, however, so stay tuned for more on that here on LS1Tech.com.
