Perfect Imperfection: Tim Katz’s Turbocharged Nova Wagon

Tapout nova wagon

This Nova wagon is one of my favorite cars we’ve filmed on /BIG MUSCLE. The suspension needed to be tuned, the exhaust threw white smoke, and the seats are bare metal… But when I saw it at SEMA two years ago, I just liked it. The color, the stance, the hand-made dash; the originality. I’d never seen a Nova wagon, let alone one that reminded me of a dangerous bar patron. It was just so cool.

The owner is Tim Katz, one of the founders of the Tapout clothing line (if you’ve seen an MMA fight, you’ve probably seen their logo on someone’s ass). You might not like fighting, or you might have seen a lot of douchebags wearing Tapout clothing in an effort to look tough, but do not judge Tim on that criteria like I did before we met. I was wrong. He’s one of the coolest, funniest, down-to-earth dudes I’ve met. He does most of the work on his cars himself. He’s laid back. He likes the cars he likes, and stays away from the Joneses. His car should reflect that, as imperfect as it.
