Pontiac Firebird

Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is in great shape and a ProCharger D1SC would really bring the LS1 to life.

There is something special about an LS1-powered Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with a big, rowdy supercharger. Many people who love the look of the fourth generation Trans Am may dream of building their own high-powered Pontiac muscle car with forced induction, but they haven’t found the right car. Fortunately, while flipping through the LS1Tech Marketplace, we found the perfect car. We also found a great supercharger that, when installed in an LS1 Firebird, will turn said Pontiac into a badass street and strip car.

1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am For Sale

First up, we have the 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, posted to the forum by “Skrueger1”. This car is more or less stock, although the seller has made some upgrades over time. It looks like items that wear out were replaced with aftermarket items rather than OEM bits, so as things went bad, this Firebird was upgraded.

The seller also included the basic pictures of the Trans Am from inside, outside and under the hood. As you can see in the images that we have shared here, the exterior looks great, the interior looks like a 20-year-old car with 144,000 miles and the undercarriage has some basic surface rust. This 4g Firebird is mildly modified and in great shape for its age, and with a price of $7,500, it is priced to move.

You could buy and enjoy this Pontiac Firebird, drive it the way that it is and enjoy the excitement of LS1 driving, or you could modify it. LS1 engines love forced induction and it just-so-happens that the perfect forced induction piece was also shared in the forum marketplace.

ProCharger D1SC Introduction

This ProCharger D1SC supercharger was posted for sale in the LS1Tech Marketplace by “White01SS”. It is used and had some issues, but it was sent back to the manufacturer for a freshening-up. The seller has included the serial number, so interested parties can reach out to ProCharger for information on what has been repaired.

ProCharger

For sale is my reverse rotation ProCharger D1SC purchased new in 2007. Asking price includes shipping and insurance within the continental US.

It has about 20k miles on it and was never setup to rev past the rated 62k rpm. It started leaking into the intercooler piping so I sent it in to ATI to get checked out. They replaced some seals and a few minor things, but said the major internal components looked really good. Before you purchase you can give ProCharger tech support the serial and they can explain what work was done. I have other documentation from them as well.

Reason for selling is I’m now running a refreshed F1A that I picked up recently from a LS1Tech member.

ProCharger

Of course, you will need to buy some supporting items to install this ProCharger to the 1999 Firebird with positive results, but for less than $10,000, you can have the car and the supercharger needed to begin a wicked winter project.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
