World-Class Hooligan From Wisconsin LS-Swapping Acura RSX

Covering an LS-swap on these pages in nothing new. People have been stuffing the LS family of small-blocks into anything and everything they can manage for years and years now, and it is hard to find a swap that is even mildly impressive anymore. Hell, Top Gear even used one to make a blender for crying out loud. However, we finally found a new swap that made us stop and pay attention again, and somehow it involves a fancy Honda.

We would have never seen this one coming in a million years.

To cut right to the chase, an enterprising young man named Ryan Standke in Wisconsin is currently working on stuffing an LS4 into the nose of an Acura RSX. Oh and because a V8 alone wasn’t enough, he also managed to slap an 80mm Garrett T6 turbo on for good measure. The goal is see 800 horsepower or more when all is said and done. Quick reminder: the LS4 was the front-wheel drive transversely-mounted LS motor found in some Impala SS’, Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, Monte Carlo SS’, and Buick LaCrosse Supers (more like super sleeper).

Yup, we told you this was a build crazy enough to warrant some attention.

Now the thing is far from finished, but the plan is to have it completely assembled and driving by the time AutoMotion in Wisconsin Dells rolls around in May. To make this whole swap work there is a lot of odd and custom work that needs to be done, and currently Ryan is keeping mum on some of the more important details like transmission choice. One thing he would tell me is that it absolutely will not be making use of the Factory 4T65-HD automatic. Here’s hoping that he makes a manual transmission work, somehow.

What I can tell you is that aside from the horsepower goal, Ryan is going to be running some chunky 17×9 Varrosten wheels with Nitto NT555R rubber, so hopefully he can occasionally have some traction when he hits the gas.
