Default Valve train noise?!

How much valve train noise is too much? I have a video uploading to photobucket right now.

I am not sure if it is necessarily valve train or my water pump pulley. I am not sure though. It looks as though the crank pulley is wobbly!? Thus causing water pump pulley noise???? Just pullin **** out of my *** hoping MY new car doesn't have internal problems. i tried to get a good shot of it. I will post the link to the video as soon as its done.

Thats an awful lot of noise. I dont see that being a water pump. The wobbly balancer is common. Mine did it, others have done it. Still under warranty?

It doesn't sound like wp but you could just yank the belt and let it hang, then start it back up and with only the crank turning see if it changes at all. If you had a set of LT's and a cam/springs I would say it's fine but that seems really loud. My C6 sounds like that but again, H/C.

BTW, how many miles?

To me... with the hood down and standing to the front and side of the engine bay... sounds like a normal LSX with MILD EXHAUST(drone) and hood UP. You lower yourself near the tires or pull the hood up, gets louder. And it doesnt sound like one rocker... SOUNDS LIKE ALL of them if it were a loose rocker issue. Or dry ones?!

My stock rockers clacked pretty good but its been so long I dont remember if they were that loud. I just know it was loud enough that people in the car would ask what was wrong with my car when I pulled through a drive through. There is a lot of slop in the stock rockers. I now have crane gold rollers and the only clatter I get is fuel injector tick.

That is a good idea about the belt. That would eliminate every external item and then you know for sure.

Oil PSI at idle is around 33-35 w/ warm engine. Reving... up to 45-48. Oil level looks good on dip stick.

Personally, I would pull the beauty cover, coils and the valve covers and just check the springs, rockers and push rods but that's just me. It would only take about 1.5 hrs.

Maybe the guy before you changed the oil with 0W who knows? I ran 0W in my Cobra and there was a noticable difference in noise. Just a thought.

If the car runs well under load, 2-3rd gear wot, everything should be good though again, I would pull the valve covers and sleep better.

Pull all the pushrods and roll them on a known flat surface. A bent pushrod can cause a lot of noise.

It seems to pull nicely in 2nd and 3rd. It has been awhile since ive driven a high HP car. About three years ago i drove a built T/A. So anything at this point would be.... powerful. I think that is why i'm a little scared. I'm gonna change the oil tomorrow to rule out the 0W. I did buy the car from Arizona.

Just did a couple WOT 2-3 runs. Pulls great. Oil PSI to 66. Temp at 218.

I noticed the sound the other day when i went thru a fast food drive thru. First one since i got the car. And ever since then i have been paranoid about it and decided to see what everyone here thought.

Get a stethiscope from the parts store and put it on the valve cover. You can pin point the noise with it before you start pulling stuff apart. A screwdriver works too but not as well.

Already pulled it all apart. Rockers are all nice and snug. Turned the motor over for a few seconds... everythings still good. Didnt pull any pushrods... got a whining 4 y/o and a pregnant wife wanting food. She's put back together and im on my way to get some food.

Did the screwdriver version...

You hear more noise on top of all runners of the intake than on either valve cover. With both valve covers sounding equal....(neither having more valvetrain noise than the other)

I posted up in the Gen III internal... all of the replies are saying it sounds similar to theirs. I dont know if its just the beauty cover reflecting the noise to under the hood or what. It just seemed TOO noisy.

Hey, just get used to it. With 1 7/8's Kooks and a .620 lift cam, my car sounds like I have 2 Transformers duking it out in my engine. You get used to it.
