Seems like you would have more MPH with a cammed car.

Congrats on the 12s tho !

probably has a 11.xx pass in it with a good 60ft time

HCI2000SS 09-21-2014 06:59 PM

Yeah a little low on the mph but otherwise decent

pdquick01 09-21-2014 07:01 PM

That's what everybody is telling me I'm new to the dragstrip as far as running, never really paid attention to the mph as a spectator. I actually ran a 113 mph at a 13.31 on my first pass looking forward to doing some more work this winter and going for 11,s next year.

pdquick01 10-28-2014 07:24 PM

Come to find out my clutch was slipping, finally got it hot enough on the street and tried a launch witch caused it to slip in 2 3 and 4th, wich explains my low 110 mph, compared to my first pass being almost 114. Also why it hit the 6800 rev limiter in 4th at 110 mph. Long story short gotta do a clutch this winter!

scotty2000ss 10-28-2014 07:34 PM

Sigh of relief lol

pdquick01 10-28-2014 07:46 PM

Yea!!

redbird555 10-29-2014 06:58 AM

go with the smallest , lightest clutch you can

pdquick01 10-31-2014 08:21 AM

In a suggestions I can't spend $1000 on a clutch

redbird555 11-01-2014 06:35 PM

well any good clutch will be 600 plus. i run a mceod twin disk and it cost me 850 including a used fidanza fly and balancing. it weighs over 20 lbs less that a comparable stock size unit.... a light clutch will benefit the car GREATLY.... the clutch is the last place you want to skimp

if you cant afford it save up and do it later

Sladester2 11-09-2014 11:13 PM

Go with a monster clutch. Also, how hard was the 8.8 rear to get to fit? Thats what I am looking at doing

pdquick01 11-10-2014 07:34 PM

There's a few different was to do it. If you can do all your own welding and fab work, you can build a rear just as strong as a 12 bolt for a 1/4 the price. Some guys go with a mini ladder bar setup. I wanted to keep my TA so I bought a mount kit that a member on here " hiltsy855" makes a lot of people have used his TA mount, but it has to be welded all up. I added some extra bracing to mine. I used a 97 crown Vic rear, Which is only 1/2 narrower overall than the ten bolt, cut all the mounts off my 10 bolt and welded them on the 8.8. Re drilled the axles to a 4.75 pattern put in arp studs, all new bearings and ford racing 4.10 gears. I'm going to upgrade to a 31 spline carrier and moser axles this winter "hopefully". Before I throw slicks on the car next year. Some guys actually use a explorer center and cut the 10 bolt tubes close to the center and have bushings made to slide them in and weld it all up. Whatever works, I even re drilled my backing plates to fit and run same brakes. Hope that helps this thread probably belongs n gears and axles now! Lol. But there are a few good detailed threads on this topic you can search.

Monster Stage 3.

ezzlez28 11-14-2014 02:44 PM

McLeod single disc, beat the ever living crap out of mine all summer, 3700 raceweight, 6500 clutch dumps. P/N# 75223. Unless you plan on adding nitrous, this is all you will need. 450+rwhp 121 mph traps.

pdquick01 06-11-2015 10:27 PM

So to update this thread, I changed nothing but the clutch, went to a monster level 3, witch is awesome by the way! And still on street tires I went 12.50's at 116mph with a 2.3 60ft, track was terrible! Just picked up some, mt et street 275/50-15's. So next time I'm sure I'll be in the 11's!

RoyO 06-12-2015 07:08 AM

Sweet mph! 11's for sure.

scotty2000ss 06-12-2015 09:56 PM

That's awesome bud. It's always nice to see real world data after a mod. I just put some et streets on but can't run till I install my cage. Hope to get some better 60fts!

pdquick01 08-31-2015 07:36 PM

Went 12.59@ 110 friday night!

So to update this thread, I finally made it to the track with the mt et streets. It was 1/8 mile track and went 7.75@94mph. 1.75 60ft. I'm thinking that's good for 11.90's. I'm in the process of ditching the sportline lowering springs, and go back to stock springs with drag shocks in the rear, for now, and adding a line lock. Hopefully that will lower my 60ft and be deep into the 11's

Your mph is high in the 1/8, but dropped off in the 1/4 mile. With that high a trap speed in the 1/8 you should've been trapping around 114 in the 1/4.
