That's what everybody is telling me I'm new to the dragstrip as far as running, never really paid attention to the mph as a spectator. I actually ran a 113 mph at a 13.31 on my first pass looking forward to doing some more work this winter and going for 11,s next year.

Come to find out my clutch was slipping, finally got it hot enough on the street and tried a launch witch caused it to slip in 2 3 and 4th, wich explains my low 110 mph, compared to my first pass being almost 114. Also why it hit the 6800 rev limiter in 4th at 110 mph. Long story short gotta do a clutch this winter!

well any good clutch will be 600 plus. i run a mceod twin disk and it cost me 850 including a used fidanza fly and balancing. it weighs over 20 lbs less that a comparable stock size unit.... a light clutch will benefit the car GREATLY.... the clutch is the last place you want to skimp
if you cant afford it save up and do it later

There's a few different was to do it. If you can do all your own welding and fab work, you can build a rear just as strong as a 12 bolt for a 1/4 the price. Some guys go with a mini ladder bar setup. I wanted to keep my TA so I bought a mount kit that a member on here " hiltsy855" makes a lot of people have used his TA mount, but it has to be welded all up. I added some extra bracing to mine. I used a 97 crown Vic rear, Which is only 1/2 narrower overall than the ten bolt, cut all the mounts off my 10 bolt and welded them on the 8.8. Re drilled the axles to a 4.75 pattern put in arp studs, all new bearings and ford racing 4.10 gears. I'm going to upgrade to a 31 spline carrier and moser axles this winter "hopefully". Before I throw slicks on the car next year. Some guys actually use a explorer center and cut the 10 bolt tubes close to the center and have bushings made to slide them in and weld it all up. Whatever works, I even re drilled my backing plates to fit and run same brakes. Hope that helps this thread probably belongs n gears and axles now! Lol. But there are a few good detailed threads on this topic you can search.

McLeod single disc, beat the ever living crap out of mine all summer, 3700 raceweight, 6500 clutch dumps. P/N# 75223. Unless you plan on adding nitrous, this is all you will need. 450+rwhp 121 mph traps.

So to update this thread, I changed nothing but the clutch, went to a monster level 3, witch is awesome by the way! And still on street tires I went 12.50's at 116mph with a 2.3 60ft, track was terrible! Just picked up some, mt et street 275/50-15's. So next time I'm sure I'll be in the 11's!

So to update this thread, I finally made it to the track with the mt et streets. It was 1/8 mile track and went 7.75@94mph. 1.75 60ft. I'm thinking that's good for 11.90's. I'm in the process of ditching the sportline lowering springs, and go back to stock springs with drag shocks in the rear, for now, and adding a line lock. Hopefully that will lower my 60ft and be deep into the 11's
