Finally 12’s

well im finally in the 12 second club i ran a personal best of a 12.56@113mph with a 1.78 60’ time i was so happy. Car ran great on the new tires. Its a 97 ws6 lt1 heads and cam car made 410rwhp and it has a 9” rear end not bad for a lt1. I no theres more room to improve i had almost a full tank of gas and im going with skinnies next time. It is also a 6spd car very pleased tho. The new mickeys street R tire hooked cgreat

Congrats! What were the track conditions like?

one sweet ws6 07-28-2018 08:43 AM

It was very sticky and the humity was like 60% air temp was in the 60’s not sure about the da tho

HCI2000SS 07-28-2018 09:01 AM

Gotcha. 410 rwhp on a old LT1 isn't too shabby. What heads and cam do you have?

one sweet ws6 07-28-2018 05:07 PM

Factory heads with a ton of work and a comp cam ill have to find the specs on it

Kfxguy 07-28-2018 11:54 PM

That seems like a pretty low mph for that hp. For comparison my third gen trapped 121 with 407rwhp. But congrats on the time, you’ve got a lot more in it for sure with 410rwhp you can get into the 11’s. Also my lead sled gto at probably 3900lbs with me in it ran 12.10 @ 113. In crappy conditions like you ran. 1.73 60ft. The da was about 1200ft and the temp was over 90 and the humidity was at 43%

one sweet ws6 07-29-2018 05:36 PM

I think i can get 11’s to barely but i think i can

you can. But I’d be willing to bet your midrange part of your tune isn’t dialed in. You made good hp on the Dyno but you need the motor to make good power WHILE ITS PULLING. Not maybe people realize that and lay down big overall numbers but during the pull at the track the load is different and it’s not revving or accelerating through the rpm like it should. That’s how a lower hp car can beat a higher hp car if everything is close. It’s alot more to it than that but I’m short you may not have enough timing or fueling could be wrong down low. You have a lighter car than me. And making just as much or more power than me but trapping the same. So that tells me the midrange power is off.

Could b donno whats weird is last yr when i went i had different tires and they didnt hook i spun bad ran a 13.5 but still ran a 111mph. I was wondering how inwas a hole second faster but only 2mph faster

HCI2000SS 07-29-2018 09:57 PM

Like mentioned above the trap speed is not matching 407 rwhp in a 3500 lb car. You're not way up in the mountains or something are you?

one sweet ws6 07-30-2018 07:44 AM

Nope in ohio

HCI2000SS 07-30-2018 08:45 AM

Gotcha. I'd expect more like 116-118 mph at that power and weight

one sweet ws6 07-30-2018 04:49 PM

Im shifting around 6k its a stock bottem end so i dont wana rev to high. Im not power shifting either

HCI2000SS 07-30-2018 05:07 PM

Where do you make peak power at?

heres a video of my tach during a run. Notice what I shift at. Stock bottom end ls1 gto

one sweet ws6 07-30-2018 08:25 PM

Peak torqe is around 4800 and peak hp is around 6500

That explains it right there. Peak power at 6500 but you're shifting around 6000. If the car is setup to rev that you should most definitely do it. That's easily costing you a few mph

one sweet ws6 07-31-2018 11:09 AM

Ok ill give it antry next time

HCI2000SS 07-31-2018 11:53 AM

Yep it's usually best to shift around 200-300 rpm after it peaks. Look at your dyno sheet and see where that is exactly. I'm thinking a little less than 6500 (more like 6200) but I can't say for sure since it's not my ride. Let us know how it works out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised

one sweet ws6 07-31-2018 09:00 PM

Ill look i keep the dyno sheet in the car wich is in the garage covered up next time i get it out ill look
