Default New best with Trak cam

Went to the track today, was 77 degrees out, so not the best conditions for a good ET/MPH. I spun all day long, EVERY single run. I'm not going to the track again until a 9 inch and a real tire, I'm on nitto drag radials. On one run, as soon as I hit second it went sideways near the middle of the track, the cobalt next to me probably pissed his pants

The car is a 99 Camaro SS M6 with Thunder Racing's Trak cam, it still has the stock 10 bolt with 4.10 gears in it, THE 10 BOLT SURVIVED

Ran a 12.1 @ 116 spinning thru 1st and 2nd.

60 ft - 1.84
1/8 ET - 7.87
1/8 MPH - 91.67
1/4 ET - 12.14
1/4 MPH - 116.25

Good times..how's the TRAK cam overall? Thats the cam i've been planning on installing in the near future with a good set of heads. What kind of power are you making on the cam only?

Keep in mind he has LS6 heads. I've seen as high as 430rwhp cam-only from this cam in Hoss' 1999 car.

That cam will get you in the 10's with the right setup, I went 11.18 with a n2o setup.

1. It was hot outside.

2. I was spinning (and whoever says spinning adds mph is completly wrong, at least with my car, the runs that I spun even worse, my mph was lower).

3. I did not powershift the 3-4 shift, like I did with the stock clutch/flywheel.

4. When I was leaving the track I noticed that one of my front tires was down to 20 psi, not sure about the other one.

You combine all of those things together, and there is several mph left to be had. I also just put a FTRA on the car and I'm ready to go 1 more time to get a good run in. I need some cooler air, better prepped track or stickier bfg dr's, practice 3-4 powershift with this heavier textralia clutch/flywheel, and add some more air to my front tires

ur wrong ls1muscle..about the spinning part. have u ever gone stuck in the snow and had ur tires spinning but not going anywhere? well i have and i remember i was in 4th gear going 90 mph. but i was standing still..SAME THING...while ur spinning going through the gears, ur mph is still going up cuz ur tires start to spin faster..that is, if u have it floored..not feathering it completely...

LOL

Here's a run where I spun really really bad. Which is very easy to do with nitto drag radials, 410 rwhp, 4.10 gears, and a completly non prepped track. This was my first trip to the dragstrip with the new setup.

60 ft - 2.53
1/8 ET - 8.88
1/8 MPH - 88.60
1/4 ET - 13.28
1/4 MPH - 113.59

SPINNING = NOT MOVING FORWARD

Other runs that were in the 2.xx 60' range, my mph was only 113-114. Hmm, wonder why it jumped up to 116 mph with a better 60 ft, I just didn't spin as bad as the 2.xx 60 ft' runs. Every single run down a dragstrip that I have ever done in my life, where I spun, my MPH was always lower.

When I ran a 12.60 @ 112.75 with a 1.93 60', with longtube headers and 4.10 gears as the only mods, I did not spin.

I believe there is at least 3 more mph to gain over my 116, with everything right.

That theory is the most rediculous thing I've read all week on LS1tech.

what you are not getting is that the track doesn't measure your speedometer reading it measures how fast your car is moving
