Default 12's with 2.73's?

I know this is an LSx forum, and I used to own a '00 WS6, but now I have a 93 Z28 project.

I bought the car bone stock, auto with crappy 2.73's.

Thus far Ive added Hooker LT's, CAI, 3'inch ORY with a dual chamber 3' blowmaster knock-off, single inlet/single outlet. I JUST finnished installing a
GM Hotcam Kit and have ordered a chip from PCM forless. 160 t-stat and a
MSD 6al box.

The car has 122K miles on the factory engine/ 4L60. I wanted this cam b/c im not finacialy ready to do a stall and performance tranny set up.

Are these gears going to kill my 1320?

I have plans on purchasing 3.73's or just buying a used 3.42 rear end and doing a swap.

Think I could see high 12's? Or should I not waist my time yet and go for gears before I run.

I'd get a stall before gears. Well, I didn't..but I should have.

You should run your car always because you can't replace seat time. You'll learn how to launch the car better, how much pressure your tires like, and you'll be more comfortable at the tree. Also, you won't come on here having to ask the proverbial "what will my car run" question. You'll know what your car runs, you'll know what to expect from the next mod and sometimes by getting that extra seat time you'll gain the "driver mod" and you'll have the skill it takes to drive your car up to it's potential. For instance in my car I run a 13.4 and it's a xerox machine, my gf runs a 15.2... same car. Get out there an race. My $0.02.

Oh and I'd be pissed if I had an after market cam and wasn't running at least a 12 ;-)

my t/a ran a 12.98 with 2.73s and stock convertor. i dynoed 327rwhp/320rwtq at that time. my 60ft was a 1.9 with nittos

i changed my gears to 3.42 and a 3200 stall but i wish i would have gone with some 3.23s

3.73 gears is too much gear for me. I like to cruse on the highway

so if your car has the power and have some kind of sticky tire you should run some 12s with those gears

Converter is worth more than gears.
With 2.73s, full bolt-ons and a Vig3200 I went 11.99.

Good suspension and a sticky tire helps too.
