Default TA performance rear end cover/girdle--worth it?

I was wondering if any of you guys have ever used one of these TA rear end covers? Do you all think they would do any good for the rear end. They have alot of "claims" but the only thing besides looks i see of use is the drain hole. Any thoughts- was thinking about getting one---one of these days.

One of the pitfalls of the 10 bolt besides the small gears is the case flexibility causing distortion under load thus allowing the gears to come out of precise alignment. The TA girdle cover is .750 inch thick at the mounting flange and the aluminum it is made of is heat treated to T6 specification which makes it very rigid. I have a TA cover along with a optional ARP stud kit for the carrier bearing caps. While the 10 bolt is a weak rear end I felt that it was worthwhile for me to spend the money to give it more of a chance with my 4.10s. I'm not naive about the ultimate strength of the 10 bolt but so far so good. 2.00 60ft on street radials.

".... optional ARP stud kit for the carrier bearing caps."
to me the piece of mind was worth the extra money, not saying it saved my 10 bolt but this with several other addations keep my 10 bolt pulling 1.6x for 10 years

whatever rearend you get a TA girdle for, yes even the 10 bolt, you can indeed expect not only a great quality part, but increased strength and longevity in your rear end.

Personally, like 90% of everyone else here, i destroyed my rearend (carrier and gears) in my 10 bolt at the track. I rebuilt it myself with the addition of the TA girdle and a solid pinion spacer (i even used a cheap gearset to save some money; afterall, it's a 10 bolt). A year later, after a few thousand miles and about 50 runs at the track, it's still running strong with no signs of imminent failure. Will it eventually break? Probably, but the girdle is definitely effective and worth buying, for whatever rearend you have.

When I brought up this question a while ago I was told to get the LPW Ultimate cover. It is very close to the price of the T/A, comes with "the worlds strongest load bolts" (don't need the stud kit is my understanding), and leaves the option to add their axle brace kit in the future. This is what I will be ordering soon. I don't know if it is actually any stronger than the T/A, but "according to an independent study" it is, so I will give it a try.

For reference: https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axl...aam-cover.html

the lpw is definitely a comparable girdle/cover, with a major advantage with the optional axle brace. Although... it think its over kill for a 10 bolt, as i'm sure gears will break before axle tubes are ever stressed lol But i'd get something like that if i plan on pulling the front wheels off the ground with any other rearend.

i just don't see how they advertise improving wheel alignment on a solid axle...???

Everything Mike puts his name on is the very tops in quality. So, T/A Performance stuff is all top notch.

it's not going to streghthen it enough to make any noticeable difference, you will still break something just as quick, you will get a drain plug though, lol

The stud kit seems to be something that TA Performance worked out with ARP. Most places that sell the TA cover also list the stud kit.
Speed Inc has it under their p/n TA1815

Is the TA pretty much the best or are they all about the same? From everything I have read they are all about the same. I was planning on just getting a MAC and calling it at that.

Any advice is welcomed, thanks.

^^^^I chose the TA cover and was quite pleased with its quality and machining, they invented the girdle cover and it's made in the USA. I looked at the LPW cover which is nice also and they have one version that has provisions for a external brace to support the axle tubes. I have had some MAC cast aluminum motorcycle parts and they were thick and crude, that's just my experience.
