you're better off to think of that angle there as say... 89* (almost 90*... follow?)... so you've got 89* and 89*... the difference between those is what...? 0... thus you have a 0* pinion angle.
(only read further if you want a non 0* pinion angle)
If you had 88* and 90*... the difference would then be 2* BUT... this still doesnt solve the problem of whether the pinion angle is 2* negative or positive, this is why i say its best to start at 0* and look and see which way goes up and which goes down, then adjust down until the difference is what you want.

Remember, the angle of a straight line is 180*
