I am about to install the same ones, but I was wondering about not using the crossover that comes with them. Is the signal coming from the headunit filtered so no lows get to the tweet?

yeah it dose the same as stock speakers but sounds way better! just wires it up to the factory plug like we did just like you were putting a factory speaker in. But make sure you wires it right you can see where the wires got to the tweeter threw the cone about half way and the speaker its self wires are at the very bottom of the speaker

No the HU signal is not filtered. So, you'll need the crossover or bass-block cap for the tweeter. If using the latter, get the 2500Hz type.
