Anyone Put Subs or Amps in Back Seat or Have a Big System There?
Don't forget, this is not a build page for my car, it's just a bunch of pics and ideas for everyone. I'll get to my car when I can, but I'm in no rush.
Just worried about a fellow f-body bro!
Anyway, I did get my 3 subs.

I may whip up a quick MDF box to find out how they sound. There are 7 pieces as seen in the pic below, plus the 2 side pieces. So it shouldn't be that big a deal.

The 3 amps are next.

Can anyone figure out roughly the air space figuring 3/4" walls? I may try to divide it up into squares and triangles later, but I think it's at least 1 cu. ft. per driver.
I have to limit it to 37" wide to fit and still access the shock adjustors so the subs will be right next to each other. I haven't decided on a final angle to mount the subs at, but I'll do the sub mounting board first and then try to see what angle looks best.
I did get all the old tint off the back window using a small steam machine I bought a while back.
You really can't do it without one.

What do you guys think?
Kind of ugly, huh?
Maybe with some rounded edges and covered in gray suede it will look a lot nicer.
Don't forget that the 54'' wide amp will be behind the seats. Like so:

I may just paint it the stock color as it matches the interior.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time

It looks simple, but is actually very trick. I will raise the rear deck by a couple of inches if I need to, relocate the gas tank and build an enclosure in front of and underneath the deck. The top of the deck will be carpeted, but the majority will have a nice peice of stained wood acting like a mounting deck. The subs will be in the back and I'll have my 5 gallon air tank in front of them.

Probably this aluminum tank after chroming it. 6.5" diameter by 28.5" long and weighs just 7.3 pounds.

That should look real sweet. What do you guys think?
The advantage of it is less cost (new tank, pump, sending unit) as well as easy to install all the factory lines. The disadvantage is it takes up some of the storage area in the back.
As far as the pickup is concerned, do you know where the factory pickup is? It's not at the bottom. It's about half way down the slope. So in the factory position fuel runs away from it down hill. If you swap it around the fuel will run away from it uphill. I doubt there would be much difference. I don't run the fuel level down real low anyway.
I looked through some of my gas tank pics (race car stuff) and I think I have a pretty good idea here.
First, I'll have a custom tank made to fit this area.

Then I can save a lot of money by reusing the stock pump/sending unit. It can be added to the new tank like these guys did it.

I like this idea as it uses otherwise wasted space where the muffler used to be and it doesn't take up any room from the storage area. Guys really will be scratching their heads wondering how I did that.

Then I could do these:

This particular setup is real nice because if you flip the subs cone up the whole thing is pretty stealthy. Then when you really want to show off, flip the subs cone down. I think this is my favorite.

I also came up with a new idea for the subwoofer box with the priorities being high sound quality, efficient output and a low center of gravity.

What do you guys think of that box? Big, huh?
I also still plan to make the one large amplifier from three smaller ones as well as have a chrome plated air tank.
