Default Who has MAGNAFLOW hi-flow cats?

I'm trying to decide between magnaflow/carsound and random tech cats for my true duals setup. The magnaflows are only $65 and the Randoms are $150. Huge difference. But will they sound any different from one another? I want as much sound as possible.

What are the size of each of them? I need to pick up a pair for my setup.

I bought the Magnaflow metallic spun cats from Jegs and they were pieces of junk...I think they are undersized for bigger displacement motors. If you read the info on them, it says they are designed for engines up to 5.2L

Mine smelled like sulfur all the time, especially if you ran up over 3000 RPM's I ditched them for an ORY and now I smell like raw fuel instead....but it beats the alternative.

I run 2 magnaflow carsound cats on my LS1. They work well. When I first put them on, the car was quiet for about 2 weeks then got louder. With any new cat you put on, their gonna smell alittle when they're brand new until they "break in" It took about 3 or 4 weeks before the cats stopped smelling bad. Right now my cats dont smell at all even after a WOT run to 6500rpm. Plus it cut down on some of the rasp! (LT's LM1 )

Maganflow carsound are a ceramic core. Random Tech's are metallic. That's the reason for the price difference. Metallic core Magnaflows run about $115 or so.

I have the Carsound type and one did break up on me. But it had been smacked a couple of times and overheated.

That's pretty much the answer I'm looking for. Right now I have Stock manifolds, stock cats, then true duals after the cats to Flowmaster Super 44's dumped under the car. It pretty much sounds stock. I'm looking to go LT's with hi-flow cats and hopefully it'll sound like it has some *****.

So do you have the $60 ceramic core or the $120 metallic core Magnaflows?

Im looking to run some Magnaflow Cat's on my new exhaust system. Which i will probably be running 2 LoudMouth II's. Unless someone can tell me, that's just gonna be to damn loud lol Especially after LT's are installed.

Where are you looking at for these prices??? I saw these on Jeg's for $90 or so. I might not be looking at the same one's though.

I strongly recommend you get the Magnaflow 59959's. That's what I have and they're beyond awesome. Best flowing cats on the market, and for $115, they're reasonably priced.

Here are some pics for you:

Here they are on the car:

To answer your original question, the metallic core Magnaflows will be louder than the Carsound type.

I have the Metalicats(sp), or whatever Magnaflow calls the metallic core cats; specifically the 59959's. You can read all about my dual exhaust and listen to a clip in the true dual sticky; ~August 2007 post date. I actually think my exhaust is a little loud. These cats seem to flow quite well based on published specs.

Is that the 2.5" or the 3" inch cats that you purchased?
