stock heads vs boost...
On a boosted forged motor, stock cast heads, & arp head studs, at what power level do the stock heads become unreliable or start having issues?
my first turbo 'mule"
sbc , 23 deg stuff
oem iron heads , 882 castings
oem block , grout filled, iron 4 bolt caps etc..
with twin 57mm turbonetics. made 1016 hp & 960 ft/lbs ,mid 230's @.050
flat tappet cam, 24 psi..
after awhile , it cracked the inside of the combustion chamber, and pressurized water system..\
when engine was put into car, i kept winding her up, my fault, i just keep winding in boost to find the breaking point...
the leaner the a/f , the more combustion pressure..
a bit fatter , i think it would have lasted longer...geta good set of head gaskets, nothing super special , and take little steps with the tune...
should be ok, and better than a n/a engine..
