My buddy had all the internals done in the transmission of his quad. He had all the gears, shafts, shift drums and forks, pretty much everything. It has shifted smoother than stock for over 2 seasons of racing and no problems. We had the top end off to freshen it up this winter and you could see the gears and they still look chrome like the day we put them in. I definately wouldnt be afraid of doing it.

Anybody know what the efficiency improvement of the gears would be on a 9" rearend? A typical 9" from Moser/Strange robs about 5% of the power I believe.

For rear-end gears, wouldn't glass bead shot-peening achieve the same result of increasing surface hardness?

I had a ring and pinion done in my 10 bolt, I did manage to chip one pinion tooth, but that was due to the nut backing off for some reason. They were in there over two years and looked just like the day they were installed. Who knows how long they would have gone had the freaky deal not happened. It was damn expensive though!

i dont think the wallnut shells are "blasted" at it it was my understanding that they use some kind of reverse centrifical force so instead of all the shells wanting to go to the outside they all go towards the part being processed...

Lots of ls4 guys are looking into this and cryo due to the high failure rate and parasitic loss of our transaxles

Bought my Mikronited ring and pinion right from the factory a year ago - previous to that set of gears, I'd snap a tooth every 6 months or so - I can't say enough good things about my Mikronited gears.

They did cost $450, but that is sooooo much less than an F-body compatable 12 bolt or 9-inch!

Ever heard of or tried WPC Treatment is used by many NHRA Prostock teams, nascar etc, something to consider.

would think the size change would be something negligible like .0001 or less.
