Default snapped cam chain

i run a car in the uk with a stroked ls2 motor (rx7), it did about 2000 hard road miles then became a track car, it then did about 35 full track days,8 race meetings with no trouble then it snapped its dual row chain.the spec at the time was rhs heads,287xer cam, yella terras, comp push rods,no chain damper.cheap under drive, i was told it was due to not having a chain damper on the front of the block. i fitted new trick flow heads, comp chain single kit,new cam, yella terra ultra lights, new push rods, new bearings checked all in line etc.after the rebuil it did about 5 hours and snapped again !!!!, so i replaced 8 valves used a stock ls2 chain and after some other advice changed to a repitable underdrive (the old one was going metal to metal on the back). 4-5 hours later and its done it again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! does any one know why . i can fit a std from pulley (means moving the rad ) is it the underdrive does anyone know. i know im not the only one with this problem so any ideas cheers craig

Try an ATI pulley with a C5r chain. All these failures I have seen on here have one common link.... An ASP UD pulley. Is that in fact what you were runninig?

For some reason it is GenIV motors not Gen III having these issues as thousands of Gen III's are still running with the ASP with no issues.

Katech says they have never had a C5R chain break. Put on a TC damper on it too as cheap insurance.

Sorry about all your problems but I think ATI Damper + C5R chain + TC damper will alleviate your probs.

It is curious to me why this prob is pretty mich GenIV specific

BTW there was a thread a few weeks ago about vendors selling bogus C5R chains so you might wanna get it from Katech to make sure you get the real deal....
Good Luck
