Default Crankshaft end play?

I have a 406ci sbc I am assembling and I am wondering what kind of crankshaft end play I should shoot for. Right now I have .0035 or 3.5 thousandths. It is a factory 400 block with clevite H bearings and a eagle 4340 forged crankshaft.

That is on the tight side. I usually shoot for .007-8". You will need to take out the thrust bearing (rear main bearing) and take material off of it until you reach the desired clearance.

I think you are fine at that. It will loosen up some after you use it and will be just right.
