Default Electronic trouble shooting

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anybody attempted to use an adjustable resistor in their late modle f body wiring harness to address a lying oil pressure guage in their instrument panel, i have done this on older stuff but not sure how it would do going through a module ???i have an adapter to put in place of the oil filter to read the oil pressure . Open to any thoughts

You could use the potentiometer to adjust the voltage difference to the desired amount needed, however ohms law comes into play here. Voltage is inversely proportional to resistance - the greater the resistance becomes the less current that will become available. So if the panel is expecting a certain current level you will need a buffer driven by either a follower design from a 12V supply or single rail op-amp to keep both voltage and current within proper spec. How far off would depend on how far of a drop in current results.

FWIW - the only way the current would come into play would be whether the oil pressure gauge is digital and requires a bias current in order to also drive the LCD screen. If the oil pressure gauge is analog then you should be fine to use the potentiometer without any problems.

Yes you can use a potientiometer, the IPC won't know the difference between a pot and an EOPS.
