Reverse Rotation of an LS motor Older small block Chevy motors were often built in a reverse rotation mode for boat usage. (support of counter-rotating propellers) Many items like the cam, the cam drive and seals were unique to those motors. Has anybody looked to see if the newer LS motors could be run in the reversed direction. I know the oil pump would have to be "reworked" as it is an integral part of the LS series. Any thoughts on this. Could a counter-rotating LS series motor be built?
You would most likely have to run a dry sump setup. The oil mains are also setup for operation in one direction. You may have to have them machined to ensure proper oiling. Other than that I don't see why it couldn't be done. Firing order would obviously be changed. An ECU that supported non standard firing orders would be necessary. Or just go carb.

Custom cam, custom oil pump, custom tune (or move connectors around so the injectors and coils fire the correct cylinders)
If you are looking to do this for a boat, its much easier to just use a modern marine transmission, that will spin the prop either way you want with a standard rotation engine. Thats how the boats have been done for a long time now.
