How do you determine the correct over-all length of a valve?
For clarity, what valve train measurements are factored into determining the correct over-all length of a valve.
Thanks for your time and help.

I would say the two biggest factors are the rocker stud height and valve seats.
The rocker arm and tip must ride in the middle of the valve stem which makes
the valve length important. Any variance could place excessive wear on the
valve guides and/or cause the rocker tip to ride on the edge of the valve stem in extreme cases.
Spring height would also be a factor, but not as much since there are offset
retainers and offset locks available to get the correct install height.
