Valve seal Material

What materials are used generally to seal the valves? I guess i mainly am concerned with the exhasut side since it probably has to be one of the hardest parts of the engine to seal properly due to heat.

Are most made from the same or similar material? If not, what are the advantages/disadvantages of the different materials..

Do you mean sealing the valve seat, or the seal at the valve guide?
In either case, I dont know too much about the materials used...but I am useful for a TTT

I think the seat is sealed by a machined flat surface on the head. No actual seal. The seal at the top is viton rubber.

I like bronze guides and viton seals on both sides.
Some people like to leave the exhaust side loose for cooling, but I don't like the smoke.
Sealing the exhaust side only means you'll be replacing the guides more often than the intakes, but that happens anyway.
