Now I put in new lifters just for peace of mind and the cam and lifters looked perfectly fine. Now I'm running the 224/224 and expect to see the same thing, no damage.
Actually the verdict is still out. One set of spauled lifters is still having analysis done and the the cam that they ran on has been requested by the bearing mfg to also be looked at during the analysis.

Sleeper,
Did you have a cam with same type of damage? If so I would like to ask you some questions on the phone.

I wasn't aware any Comp cams were having this problem. I thought they were all Cam Motion and mainly FM 13s.

No it is accross the board. In the cases of the F13's the spauling happened very quickly.

Roller lifters don't have to be changed with every cam change. The lifter needs to be inspected and if suspect to wear then new lifters should be installed.
but is there any way of inspecting the lifters without removing the Heads ?

We removed my trusty old comp cams 216/220 and found it to be totally stuffed all lobes worn with one intake lobe spalled for at least 1/8" in from the edge around the toe of the lobe, talk about gravel, it was rough as.
So the heads will come off to replace the lifters

Removed the Lifters and found no aparent wear caused by the spalled lobe. must be tough little buggers.
