Default Head bolts cutting to length?

Pretty much what the title is, but my queston is have you, or have you heard of anyone having to cut ARP head bolts shorter to fit. I most say its a first and I've done a few head bolt installs in my day. Thanks

Some people have had problems with their heads leaking using ARP studs which they suspected may have been due to the studs being too long. I'm not sure that there has been any hard evidence, at least that I have seen on this board, that the bolts were actually too long and what the person did to remedy the situation. I think in a couple cases it turned out to be that the heads were decked and the person was unaware of it, causing the bolts to be too long for their application. I'm sure you could cut the bolts if you wanted, but I would have to assume ARP obviously researched and produced them at that length for a reason.

That makes sense, that seems like the only reason you would ever have to do that. I had never heard of this. Until a local shop had to do it to a motor that a guy later had to tear down and found different lenght bolts in it.

What type of engine? (LS2, LT1, other)? On the LS series engine there is a 1st and 2nd design head bolt (depending on the head). The first design uses long and medium length bolts, 2nd design uses all medium length. ( excluding those little 8mm bastards along the top)
