Hydraulic lifters and piston to valve clearances I'm looking for some good knowledge on hydraulic lifters as it relates to checking piston to valve clearances.

The best method I'm aware of is using a degree wheel and dial to check the
clearance. Use a check spring on both intake and exhaust valves, so there's
no need to remove the heads.
Using a solid lifter of equal dimensions as your hydraulic prevents any chance
of the seat depressing. This will account for pre-load clearances.
