VTEC allow seperate camshaft profile to be used.
So It'd be like if your engine could have a 212@.05" cam, a 226@.05" cam and a 244@.05" cam in the same engine.
Didn't really add anything, just let a "big camshaft" to be used at high rpms.
Why some are saying, throw out the complexity run the biggest profile up front and add a power adder.
